Definition: South-Eastern dialects refer to a linguistic variety found in the South Eastern part of the United States, which includes communities along the Florida Gulf Coast as well as parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Kentucky. The term "south-eastern (dialect)" is a blend of two terms: "South" and "East". The South-Eastern dialects are known to have a southern influence and therefore they tend to speak in a more Southern tone or style. It can also refer to the southern dialect spoken by those who live near the Gulf Coast region, such as those who work there. In general, this term refers to an area of American English where the dialect is more Southern than it is traditional American English.
